People We Like

Amazing people, amazing places, amazing products.

We’ve spent many years working in the outdoors, visiting loads of places and using loads of kit. Here we tell you about why we’ve chosen what we use for our expeditions and some people who might be able to help you if we don’t offer what you’re looking for.

McConks

These guys provide our paddle boards. With so many different brands on offer amount of choice available can be bewildering. When I got in touch to arrange a trial of some boards I was met by the owner of the company, he came for a paddle with me, we had a nice chat – not a hard sales pitch. That personal touch made the decision so much easier. Combine that with affordable prices and a commitment to sustainability and there really was only one choice.

Alpkit

Awesome British company with great sustainability ethos. We love that they give back to the community through the Alpkit Foundation and make small awards to people, groups and schools that work to remove the barriers in getting outdoors and experience wild places. Add to that some great products at affordable prices. It’s why we chose them to supply our tents and sleep mats for our SUP expeditions.

OverBoard

Another company based in the UK that’s committed to producing great products at affordable prices. A great range of waterproof bags for whatever you need to keep dry.

Tresseck Campsite

We always enjoy staying here even though it’s only 10 minutes down the road from our base. Jeff, Sarah and the rest of the team always provide a warm welcome. With its own access to the River Wye it makes a great location to base some of our SUP expeditions from. Don’t miss out on a visit to the remarkable St. Catherine’s church or just chill on the riverbank and watch the kingfishers as they dart by.

Byecross Farm

Another awesome campsite nestled on the banks of the River Wye and another superb base for our SUP expeditions. Camp in the shade of the apple trees in the orchard, relax and enjoy a fantastically sociable site.

Dan Yr Ogof Campsite

Another of our favourite sites to stay at and the only one where you can have a chat to the local emus and llamas. Attached to the National Showcaves visitor attraction you can always find a secluded spot to camp. Footpaths lead direct from the campsite and into some of the quietest areas of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Activities Industry Mutual

We couldn’t operate without excellent insurance to cover our public liability and equipment. These guys are super helpful, approachable and understand the outdoor activities sector.

If you’re looking for something to do in the Wye Valley that we can’t help you with here are some people who might be able to sort you out.

Wye Adventures

Based at Symonds Yat these guys cover just about everything from canoe and kayak hire to gorge walking and axe throwing.

Canoe The Wye

Fancy paddling a canoe through the stunning gorge at Symonds Yat? This team will be able to help you.

Hereford Canoe Hire

If you enjoyed an expedition with us from Tresseck campsite and are looking for a self guided canoe trip on the same section of the River Wye then these are the people to make it happen.
