If you want to bring your own equipment for this trip then that’s fine with us but please bare in mind the following:

Boards should be suitable for touring. Due to the distances covered we’d recommend a minimum of 11’4″. A short river fin of around 4″ as the river can be shallow in places. Even better if it’s flexible, and you have a spare.

We can only transport boards that are not inflated but if you’re nice we’ll let you borrow our electric pump at Hereford.

Buoyancy aids should conform to a minimum of BS EN 393:1994

We can supply you with a 40l drybag and two 20l ones. If you don’t think all your kit will fit then you’ll need to bring additional bags.

If you’re unsure about the suitability of any of your equipment please get in touch before your trip. Alternatively just use ours, you’re more than welcome to.

Sample Itinerary

Monday – Meet at Ross Rowing Club between 2pm and 3pm. We’ll sort out all your equipment before transporting you to Hereford. You can leave your cars at the rowing club in Ross, parking charges are included in your package. Once in Hereford you can set up camp and cook your first meal, or head into the city for something to eat.

Tuesday -A full day of paddling down to Hoarwithy and your campsite for the evening. There is a pub with a small shop in walking distance – booking is recommended if you’d like to eat there – New Harp Inn. Make sure you take time to visit the amazing church in the village.

Wednesday – Another day on the river will take you back to Ross-on-Wye. You’ll find plenty of places to eat in the evening and a few supermarkets if you’ve run out of Haribo.

Thursday – Your final day so anything you don’t need can be left in your car and we’ll be on hand to take any of our equipment off your hands that you no longer have a use for. Head down stream but don’t forget to stop for a coffee at The Paddle Cafe. The river heads into a deep gorge where you may be lucky enough to spot peregrine falcons before your final destination of Symonds Yat East. Here you’ll be collected and transported back to your car at Ross-on-Wye.
